One of my favorite things when traveling is going out carrying almost nothing.
I did not set out thinking this was some better way to travel. I just got tired of carrying stuff I was barely using.
At the start of the trip, I was bringing my travel backpack everywhere because it felt like the sensible thing to do. Water bottle, power bank, light jacket, random little things I thought I might want later. Nothing crazy, but enough that I was always aware of it, and the bag itself weighed at least a kilo. It was really cramping my stile.
So one day I left it in the room.
I took my phone, card, some cash, and had a Nanobag Daypack in my pocket in case I picked something up. That was it.
For the first little while it honestly felt weird, like I had forgotten something. But after a bit I realized how much nicer it was. I felt really free… and I just didn’t look like a backpacker anymore, I was blending in much more than I normally do.
Later that day I picked up a few things, just normal travel stuff. A bottle of water, some fruit, a pastry, and a couple of small gifts for my family. Nothing major, but enough that carrying it all by hand would have been annoying, and I really don’t want to take single-use plastic bags.
This is where Nanobag is a game-changer.
I pulled it out, threw everything in, and that was basically it. No fuss, no digging around, no wishing I had brought my backpack after all.
That is why I like it. Not because it is flashy. It is just extremely useful when you need it, and completely unnoticeable when you don’t.
A lot of packable bags are ok, but in practice they are either annoying to pack away again, or have uncomfy straps once you actually put a bit of weight in them. This one strikes a perfect balance between portability, utility and comfort.
That is probably the best thing about it. It does not really feel like an emergency bag. It feels like a proper bag that just happens to pack down very small.
Since then, I have started using just the Nanobag Daypack for my daytrips. If I actually need a backpack, obviously I will take one. But on a normal day, walking around, getting coffee, going into shops, picking up food or a few small things, I would much rather have almost nothing on me and just keep this in my pocket. It’s freedom in a tiny pouch.
I never travel without it. It is one of those things you barely notice until you need it, which is probably why I love it so much.
