Best Places to Visit in Ladakh


Ladakh recently became a Union Territory but it has been a favourite tourist attraction for a long period of time. Ladakh’s exotic landscape and its unique culture are the major reason for its popularity. Ladakh’s culture is a blend of Indian, Tibetan, and Buddhist traditions. 1. Zanskar Valley

Zanskar Valley without any doubt is one of the most popular tourist spots of Ladakh. Apart from its captivating landscape, pleasant climate, snow-covered mountains, and Buddhist culture you can also get to enjoy river rafting, trekking, and camping, this is the reason Zanskar valley is famous among adventure lovers. Located at a distance of 105 km from Leh it is situated between the Himalayas and the Zanskar Mountain range. You can visit Zanskar Valley between June and September as it is the best time.

2. Kahardungla Pass

Khardungla Pass is the highest motorable pass in the world, located around 40 km away from Leh it is one of the top tourist destinations in Ladakh. It was opened in the year 1988 for civilian traffic it is a gateway to Nubra and shook Valleys. And it is advised not to spend more than 15 minutes at Khardungla Pass due to its high altitude and you may also witness a lot of traffic jams if you are travelling during the peak tourist season. It is a popular spot among adventure enthusiasts.

3. Pangong Tso Lake

Pangong lake is located at an elevation of 4350 meters and is 134 km long it is also known as India China lake as its some part also lies in China. Its unreal beauty, sparkling waters and scenic view are the reasons for its mass popularity among the tourists.

The climax scene of 3 Idiots was shot here which further added to its popularity. The lake has the color-changing ability, you can spot at least 5 different colours at a time. 4. Hall of Fame

If you are visiting Ladakh your journey will remain incomplete if you don’t pay a visit to Hall of Fame. Hall of Fame is a museum located 4 km away from Leh on Leh Kargil road, it was constructed by our Indian Army to show gratitude towards the Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the motherland in the Indo-Pak war. In the museum, you will get to see the weapons that were used in the Kargil war, pictures of the Kargil war, you will also get to learn about the culture and history of Ladakh.

5. Sangam 

Sangam Valley in Ladakh is the meeting point of rivers Indus and Zanskar. You can easily spot this confluence on your route to Leh. And the most amazing part of this confluence is the two distinctive shades to blue converging. Indus is the longest river of Asia and Zanskar is the tributary of Indus which meets Indus at Nimmu Village in Ladakh and the point of confluence is popular as Sangam.

It is a sheer delight to watch the confluence of these two rivers having distinctive shades of blue.

6. Nubra Valley

Nubra Valley is situated at a distance of 160 km from Leh and is an important tourist spot in Ladakh. It a desert in Ladakh where you will get to see the double-humped camels and has some of the most beautiful monasteries and you can also enjoy the ride of the double-humped Bactrian camels. Its breathtakingly beautiful landscape makes it a top spot to be visited by you while in Ladakh.
